Columbia, MD – Fortego has been awarded the number two small business in the 2016 Top Workplaces for Baltimore and received the special honor of New Ideas. This is exciting news for Fortego. It gives legitimacy to the strong emphasis Fortego has put into the growth and health of our employees.

Fortego’s mission is to solve our client’s most difficult cyber security problems. We has devoted ourselves to studying and understanding the tools, techniques, and technologies used to perform cyber warfare.

It’s a thriving industry in Maryland. That’s a blessing for us, but it also means that we must be aware of the demand on (and the demand for) its employees.

Fortego’s philosophy is to train people so that they can work anywhere, but go above and beyond for them so that they won’t want to leave. Employees are rewarded for achievement, and they are encouraged with time and funding to conduct research that will help them enhance their expertise.

“From the moment I was offered a position by Fortego, they have always ensured I was happy and had what I need to meet my professional goals,” professed a Fortego Employee for the Top Work Place Survey. “The owners listen to the employees and made changes to the benefits where some employees thought were lacking.”

Beyond that, we want our staff to think of one another as a work family. We host monthly employee lunches and happy hours (alternating for those with families), tech talks on topics that are cutting edge, and maker Thursdays where employees get to come to brainstorm and tinker with new things.

We also realize that everything is not just about your work family. Whether charitable or just fun, Fortego provides outlets for the family to get together. From hosting home-brewed beer contests to serving dinner to Veterans recovering from addiction and homelessness at The Baltimore Station, Fortego feels it’s important to provide the opportunity to be involved.

“I am paid to do cool technical work and I am treated like I am part of a family,” submitted by a Fortego Team Member. We could not have said it better ourselves!
